Brief and solution
In Predgrad we restored the kal, a water-retention pond. Such ponds were already in use in the time of the Gottscheers. They were used for watering livestock, irrigating fields and washing laundry, as a village bathing place and as a place to chat.
They are a diverse aquatic ecosystem characterised by fluctuating water levels, and also an important part of the habitat of aquatic and forest animals. They are important reminders of history that still serve a purpose today.
