In the immediate vicinity of Postojna Cave stands the Modrijan Homestead, which consists of a main building, the Lower Mill and a sawmill. Inside the homestead you can view an ethnological collection, through which you can learn about the history of the mill and of milling, which was once one of the more important activities in this area.
Our work began in 1998, when we dismantled the original mill with sawmill in our part of the country, restored it and re-erected it in the Postojna Cave complex. In 2013 we took part in building the Modrijan Homestead, which is an entirely timber structure stabilised by a system of steel bracing and also has a timber facade.
